Creating a Mail Center

[My favorite product for The Mail Center]

Did you know that we receive the *same amount of mail in two days that our parents received in two weeks and our grandparents in two months or possibly even two years?  *don't know exactly where this stat came from but sounds legit to me!

First, take a deep breath, look at your mail pile and holler and I mean HOLLAH a good 

“You don’t control me. I control you!”

This project may just change your life... ok that's going a bit far, but there is a reason this is the first H... home project for those of you that have [The Smart Woman's Guide To Doing it All]. 

I believe that once you get the mail under control with a system that works for you, you can maintain the incoming paper a lot easier. 

So get to it girlfriend.  Tackle this one w/a little gusto!

approx. time for initial project: 1 hour +shopping

maintain: 5 minutes/day

"THE SHE-IT-KIT"

The S.H.E. IT KIT [aka clutter-control kit] is your secret weapon for staying clutter free. I believe clutter (aka the C-word, which I like to avoid all together) is just a pile of decisions you have yet to make… and that’s okay because you were busy living life. I get it... I'm there with ya.

My philosophy is to make it as easy as possible to clear the clutter. It’s quite possible to create this kit with items you may already have. However, I confess that I am much more apt to actually get excited about a project if it involves functional + fabulous products!

 To create your own SHE-IT-KIT you'll need:

- 3 totes [see above] or paper/plastic bags work too.

- Download The Shebang Organizing signs + print them out. I suggest sliding them into sheet protectors so they stay pretty :) Download Organizing_signs_general_use

- binder clips to attact signs to totes

- a timer

- some good music

THE CLOTHES CLOSET

It happened yet again. You’re late. You were supposed to be out the door 5 minutes ago but spent way too much time trying to figure out what to wear. Don’t panic. We're going to whip your closet + your wardrobe into shape... Together we can do this sister. And yes, I will be honest and tell you when “your butt looks too big in those jeans”.  

You'll need to:

If you don't have time to tackle the full project, try this...

I won't make you empty your entire closet on to the bed. WAY to overwhelming. Way, way, waaay to overwhelming. I’m going to take an unconventional approach.

Let’s play a little game.

1. Go find 5 shirts you don’t like.
2. Go find 3 pairs of pants you know you will never wear again.
3. Choose 2 sweaters that make you feel frumpy.
4. Head back in there and find 4 dresses or skirts that don’t cut the mustard or accommodate your butt girth.
5. Last call. Find all suits and/or jackets that are stuck in a different era. Don’t hesitate. Just do it.
6. PUT the DONATION items in the trunk
7. Voila!
