Jayne is the creative handbag designer behind www.designsbyjayne.com . She is also a wonderful mother + wife. Her story brings tears to my eyes and I'm proud to be a part of her life. (Look for her story in a future post)

As a professional organizer... one would think I am perfectly organized... dinner on the table at precisely 6pm, sheets ironed, kid's tucked into beds at exactly 8pm.
Wrong girl... wrong blog.
I declared long ago that my business is me... I don't have plans to grow a business and sell it. I don't say we on my website... there is no we. Just me. The not-so-perfect me.
I have bad mommy moments... like forgetting my son had a basketball scrimmage at 5pm while I was at the grocery store grabbing dinner on my way home from a clients. #badmombadmom #forgot2writeinmyplanner
or
This morning at 8:54 when I realized the Rubbermaid Twitter Party I was hosting started at 9:00 EST not PST... #oopsy #wroteitdownwrong
But somehow it all works out...
It's inspired me to blog a bit differently... more about the journey.
The journey of getting it + keeping it together... More peeks behind the scenes.
I'm me... in spite of myself.
ps I've updated the blog header to reflect the changes [you like?]
cute lil' sugar snails from Martha... so i pinned them!
We're a few days into Winter Break and the kidlets want to do 'stuff'. Today we knocked out a load of Christmas cookies... and I'm still cleaning up the mess :) #worthit
So I headed over to my Pinterest board, the one I titled "Winter".
By now some of you may be addicted to Pinterest...
Others may have heard about it over cocktails the past week...
And some of you just might be saying to yourself... 'what in the heck is she talking about now?'.
Here you go take a peek for yourself: Krista's Winter Pinterest Board It's an incredible organizing tool for all things fabulous + clever... and dreamy.
Yesterday and today Facebook is rolling out changes #again... and with that I noticed many of my friends aren't good with change. In response I posted this: i find it funny how many people loathe change... it's only facebook people, no one asked you to sleep on the other side of the bed
I'm good with change...it's limbo that I loathe. Limbo was finding out I may have cancer, then waiting to find out 'my plan' of attack. Limbo is when you sell your house and don't have a new place to live. Limbo is being unemployed. We all have our own limbo moments... We all just want the plan.
This is me last year. I knew where I was, where I was going. #ihadaplan

This is me this year. I have a plan. I'm moving forward. I'm going to live the good life.
OneRepublic Concert at The Beach at Mandalay Bay, Las Vegas. September 2011
Oh this has gotta be the good life This has gotta be the good life This could really be a good life, good life
Say oh, got this feeling that you can't fight Like this city is on fire tonight This could really be a good life A good, good life
Oh, Oh, Oh, Oh, Oh, Oh, Oh A good good life Oh, Oh, Oh, Oh, Oh, Oh, Oh
[Bridge 2]
Hopelessly I feel like there might be something that I'll miss Hopelessly I feel like the window closes oh so quick Hopelessly I'm taking a mental picture of you now 'Cuz hopelessly The hope is we have so much to feel good about
[Chorus]
Oh this has gotta be the good life This has gotta be the good life This could really be a good life, good life
Say oh, got this feeling that you can't fight Like this city is on fire tonight This could really be a good life A good, good life
So my Chicaritas... this is just a friendly reminder to stop griping over the lil' things. Take care of them... so that you can enjoy the lil' things . #likeanoutdoorconcert #whenthesunshinesjustso #acupofjoe #aphonecallfromyourgirlfriend and handle the big things.
Today I heard the magic words "I'll take the kids, have a great time"... I love when my husband whispers those sweet nothings, because they are EVERYTHING to me. I primped, adorned my hair with my long black w/white polka dot scarf, grabbed my black + white striped tote and headed to my lil' downtown Camas for the Vintage Fair. My first stop was at my favorite Caffe Piccolo Paradiso for an iced soy latte [i'm doing soy now because i can't handle the dairy while on my clinical trial, but that's another post]. I met up with my favorite chica Leah + her sister Krista [yes it can be confusing so she's KK and I'm Krista Colvin]. Immediately I spotted this vintage yet totally Modern Deco vase set. I think Leah needs it for her bathroom counter to place all her hair products in, I mean "hide" all her product. but she didn't bite. #canyouseemyreflection+mypolkadotscarf
I thought this hamper was adorable... in fact it would be so dang clever to have it in the corner of a master bedroom to collect all your bed pillows at night. Don't you think?! What about using for all the plush animals your child can't live without... After seeing this pillow, it haunted me and I had to go back an hour later and buy it for my living room :)
Dutchess
This vignette caught my eye...why not stack a small dresser on top of a vintage suitcase. It works for me. I wonder how long a petunia would last inside my house... It looks so pretty sitting there.
More from Dutchess
I love these glass domes... I hadn't thought of using one to drape my jewels over, but it would work fabulously. I also picture having 3 in various sizes and changing out what's in them by season. So Christmas there could be some cute santa or miniature Christmas tree.... hmmm I may have to seriously consider doing something like this.
And even more from Dutchess
I haven't taken pictures of some of my other finds... maybe I'll do that tomorrow and show how I integrate vintage with my modern furniture creating what the designer world deems 'transitional'. I like to think it's where my past meets my present. Where vintage inspiration meets my modern lifestyle. I do know it's what makes me smile as I cozy into my couch or walk through a room...
Earlier this week I got a sneak peek at the new BHG site! I felt so in-the-loop, inner circle, hip + in-the-know to be included in their webinar. Even the editor-in-chief chatted with us! Today the site went live and it's FABULOUS!
Here's what I love... but you'll have to see for yourself. www.BHG.com

I couldn't resisit the "What's your organizing personality?" Quiz. If you know me... you'll know this is SO ME: "Schoolteacher" Orderly but not rigid. Predictable & reliable, structure but not afraid of spontaneity.
I also gravitated toward the "Flea Market Finds"... because I like to think outside of the box myself :). Remember this AMNW segment I did a couple of months ago! Organizing outside of the Box

Summer is officially here in the Pacific Northwest! I love this picture of my daughter as she so innocently soaks it all in...
The big girl in me sees that she's embracing all life has to offer. Her toes slightly sinking in the sand- keeping her grounded and safe from the oncoming waves. Her arms wide open to explore what is near + far.
I'm going to soak it all in as well. I only have so many summers to be with the kids... they are already 9 + 7 so I'm lucky if they'll hang out with me for another 4 years. I'm sure you'll forgive me if my posts are more sporadic, less "how to" and more "why bother". I'll be sharing old posts, my favorite blogs, and reading my magazines that have been piling up ;).
Cheers to you and Cheers to a fabulous Summer! Krista

This is the incredible HGTVdream house. I almost gasped when I saw it... on Melissa's fabulous blog- The Inspired Room... it reminded me so much of my grandma's farmhouse in Russellville, Kentucky.
Then the similarities continued... a wrap around porch. I could picture inside as I looked at the dream home's windows. I recalled photos taken in front of the house and my adventures catching fireflies and playing with kittens on the back stoop. I pictured my mom in her majorette uniform circa '47....
Montgomery Farmhouse, Russellville, KY
This is photo of my grandmother's house. She doesn't look quite as majestic as the dream home. But to me she is ever so beautiful. We used to pack up every summer and leave LAX headed to Nashville then drive north. Coming up the long drive, crossing the cattle gap, then bridge over the creek, then she appeared. She was so different from the California ranch homes I was used to. She was beautiful. Full of a lifetime of memories + then some. She was around pre-indoor plumbing.... lived through the depression.... and then lost her lustrous life to a fire a few years back.
So you can imagine my gasp + smile when I saw that the HGTV dream home. It was if the ol' girl up + moved to California and had a lil' work done.
Side by side views... notice the window details. Oh how I wish I had more photos on hand...
It's Wednesday... which means... a wordless (practically) post.
I LOVE my Mary Poppins Doll...
She's been with me since the mid 70's. Isn't she practically perfect in the most unusual way. She's completely handmade down to the white gloves and boot buttons. Somehow I lost her umbrella... that just means she can't ever leave me right?
And this is "Scary Mary"... she live's in a museum at Walt Disney's One Man's Dream Museum Hollywood Studios @ Disney World. My officemate Beth thought of me when she saw her and 'just had to take a pic for me'... thanks, i think?!
More on Mary + my infatuation with her: click here and here!
