Jayne's studio was so fun to work on. Who wouldn't love to be amongst beautiful fabrics, beads, trims and creative company!
Jayne is the creative handbag designer behind www.designsbyjayne.com . She is also a wonderful mother + wife. Her story brings tears to my eyes and I'm proud to be a part of her life. (Look for her story in a future post)
Jayne gave me a ring when she was ready to take her biz to the next level... take a look, I think she's got it going on! Take a look at the BEFORE + AFTER PHOTOS yourself...

Each day beginning tomorrow, Dec. 30th, I'll post a challenge... and I'll have some fun prizes to give away :)
I'm ready to move forward. It feels good to be working again, it feels good to be myself. It feels good to move on from my breast cancer 'sabbatical'. Thank you for all your support, you have no idea how much it means to me~
I'm a HUGE believer that we can do almost ANYTHING for 5 minutes...
On AMNW today I shared 5 different spaces in your life that you can tackle in 5 minutes. I promise you'll feel more in control and it will take the 'edge' off [almost like a good glass of wine]!
Check out my new timer.. it's quite coolio. Ironically as I was prepping for my segment I couldn't find my timer. I'm not saying I lost it... I'm merely going to go with the story that my kids jacked it so that I couldn't make them do any more '5 minute pick up/clean up' sessions! #maybemaybenot
1) Your Handbag... take 5 to clear out the receipts, trash, and randomness that settles at the bottom of your handbag. You can easily find 5 minutes while you're waiting at the gas pump or stuck in traffic. *note my cute Bagmate available in Camas at The Uncommon Gift.
2) Your Clothes Closet... I dare you to set the timer for 5 minutes and see how many items you can say adios to. *extra points if you have your spouse + kidlets do the same
3) The Mudroom... oh just do it. It's only 5 minutes and you'll feel SO much better. I'm sure the summer items are ready for storage and you can bust out the scarves + mittens for the cold months ahead. *consider adding a "Donation" and "Return Items" bin to this area. It's nice to give those kind of bins their own home.
4) The Drop Spot.... aka My Laundry Room. Grab a couple of bins- 1 for each family member. Place their 'stuff' in their bin and 'force, bribe, dangle a carrot' in front of them to put their belongings away.
5) The Junk Drawer... c'mon do it. It's only junk. Wipe down the drawer while you have it empty.
I had a coffee date with myself... I spent the time identifying what I'd like to do this school year...
I brought along one of my cute paper journals [because i'm a complete + utter sucker for cute paper products] and then drew a few lines and began brainstorming.
I divided my page into 3 columns with the heading Self | Home | Endeavors. It's a play on my whole Shebang philosophy... I believe we juggle 3 areas of our lives and I gave them the cute SHE acronym ;)
I then brainstormed what was important to me and items I wanted to focus on this school year... Items that I'd like to add to my life, Projects that need to be addressed.
After my brainstorm I created 3 pages, each with their own heading: Self, Home, Endeavors. On each page I went a little bit deeper determining some of the steps or specifics of what I meant or needed to do. Here's what my Home page looked like. [it may not make sense to you... but it does to me!]
Now I'm ready to revisit my SHE ROUTINES and add these items to my daily + weekly + monthly routines. I've chatted before about my SHE ROUTINES, these are what keep me sane. And since Summer throws my routines to the curbside it's time to get my groove back on. Time to revisit + recreate my routines. Time to get + stay sane! More about that here.
I thought I'd try my hand again at creating a video... I'm no pro, but that doesn't stop me!
It's been a loooooong Spring in the Pacific Northwest... I'm ready for the sun to come out- SO ready. In hopes of Summer actually arriving I took 5 minutes to change out my accessories. Because I always say the key to being organized is staying organized.
TIP: Place unwanted items in your Donate bin! Why store something that you don't really like...
I promise this project won't take long at all...
Let me know when you've conquered changing out your accessories!
5 things you can do in 5 minutes [give or take ;) ] to get your Summer organized! Take a peek at my AM Northwest segment... Check out the photos + tips aaaaand at the bottom of the post I included some BONUS Summer Tips!
I believe the key to being organized is staying organized! Not as difficult as it sounds if you do 9 simple items each month... Take a peek at my segment on AM Northwest showing you how! click here to view segment

The S.H.E. IT KIT [aka clutter-control kit] is your secret weapon for staying clutter free. I believe clutter (aka the C-word, which I like to avoid all together) is just a pile of decisions you have yet to make… and that’s okay because you were busy living life. I get it... I'm there with ya.
My philosophy is to make it as easy as possible to clear the clutter. It’s quite possible to create this kit with items you may already have. However, I confess that I am much more apt to actually get excited about a project if it involves functional + fabulous products!
To create your own SHE-IT-KIT you'll need:
- 3 totes [see above] or paper/plastic bags work too.
I'm feelin' it. The angst of clutter. Today my house is a too messy. I've crossed the line from 'tolerate' to 'angst'. Here's what I'm going to do about it...
I'm implementing my 5 minute pick up-clean up policy. This is where I rally the troops (my fam of 4), give specific pick up-clean up orders, set the oven timer for 5 minutes and go!
Problem is... 2 of the 4 are gone. And my daughter just started an episode of something-or-another. I think I need to bite the bullet and take 5 minutes to create some fabulousness in my abode., by myself.
I've done this before... and will need to do it again... clutter is what happens when you are busy living. I'm down with that.
Check out my other "5 minutes to fabulous" posts... pictures included!
