Jayne's studio was so fun to work on. Who wouldn't love to be amongst beautiful fabrics, beads, trims and creative company!
Jayne is the creative handbag designer behind www.designsbyjayne.com . She is also a wonderful mother + wife. Her story brings tears to my eyes and I'm proud to be a part of her life. (Look for her story in a future post)
Jayne gave me a ring when she was ready to take her biz to the next level... take a look, I think she's got it going on! Take a look at the BEFORE + AFTER PHOTOS yourself...

On January 30th, cute red carpet attire in tow, I'll be rockin' it on the red carpet and sipping cocktails with the topsters in the organizing industry. I'm thrilled... can you tell?!!
Cute lil' Hal Sparks is the host. He's a stand-up comedian, former host of Talk Soup on E! Entertainment Television and star of the acclaimed Showtime series Queer As Folk. I SO wanted his Talk Soup job back in day.
Rock on NAPO LA.... it's the 4th straight year, the Los Angeles Organizing Awards will honor twenty individuals and/or companies that represent the best of the best in the professional organizing industry. AND last year I wanted to go... this year I AM going!
So Thank you again everyone.... I'll keep you posted on some fun details- like WHAT in the heck I'm going to wear to such a fancy thing... and what I'll be sipping on... and who I'm mingling with. Maybe I can take a new pic with Peter Walsh- remember the last one- I know HOW could you forget ;) see it here
WOWsa Girlfriend! I've been blogging for ONE whole year... seems like yesterday I was jumping into techy-land and asking Pam of HOUSEMARTIN just how to do this bloggy thing!
Every Sunday, ok most Sunday's, I'm going to bring you a roundup of posts from the previous year. It's good stuff sister... so why reinvent the wheel. Call me savvy, call me green, just call me girlfriend ;)
Did you Fall Back? So... you turned back the clock but did you tackle all the other fall chores? 1. Put away those Halloween costumes and decor. 2. Pick your Christmas cards out before they sell out. read more
Thanksgiving is by far my favorite holiday as she really seems to have her priorities straight ;). Keeping it simple helps keep the focus on what's important. This morning on AMNW I shared my favorite tips. Take a peek!
It's really quite scary that I'm professing ideas for meal planning... I AM SO NOT a chef. In fact the grocery store scares me just a tad. All those fluorescent lights and rows of raw meat make we want to run to the nearest restaurant. So this segment is a testimonial to the fact that if something is whittled down and made less complicated + less overwhelming I can handle it. You can too girlfriend, you can too. WATCH SEGMENT-CLICK HERE
BE REALISTIC Break it down now sister... look at your planner. How much time do you really have to cook? What days will you be home to cook? Let's say 3 days are doable.
KEEP IS SIMPLE Determine your family favs. Everyone can participate.... then create post it notes with their choices. *see below* Don't forget to make post-its for leftovers, pizza, takeout ;)
Also look through simple *read dated* cookbooks for ideas! Here's a closeup of my elementary school cookbook that the P.T.A. ladies put together to make some cashola. Notice the simple ingredients! Also makes we wonder where John Betow (recipe Ruth's son) is now... will have to facebook him later ;)
SYSTEMS...putting it all together Now take those little post-its and place them on each day of the week then use the list to create your grocery list. Voila- you did it!
Looking for some more ideas? Here's some ideas from my fabulous friends at The Organized Parent...check out their meal planning section! And how cute.cute.cute these items are!
When I was putting together my segment I did a shout out to my online friends (facebook + twitter). Below are the tips they shared with me. I'm passing them on to you in hopes that you will also find a system that fits your lifestyle. PLUS if you aren't on FB or Twitter you can see what these little blurbs look like- short + sweet.
I was SO excited to get this Google Alert! Admittedly almost as excited as back in '85 when I received 1, yes that was a ONE vote "for most likely to succeed." I'd like to thank that anonymous voter for their support and now look at me... I MADE A LIST!!! Oh, in case you are wondering, the vote was not my own but as yearbook editor I got to count the votes.

I'm thrilled to be emceeing the Makings of a Mamapreneur Conference in Portland this week! So many of my girlfriends and acquaintances have inquired about my biz savviness. Yes, I have a business degree, but that was so 1989 and I need to stay hip + fresh with the whole millennium/Gen Y thing.
As much as I adore my girlfriends I think they tolerate me + my crazy business ideas. It's my mamapreneur girlfriends + Ladies Who Launch sistahs I turn to for resources, support, and down right honest answers. I'm truly looking forward to hearing the mamas share their experience. It's my part of my MBA program- mama biz advice that is.
If you want to follow the event live you can do so on Twitter @mamapreneur . I'm also hoping to add my 2 cents in between my emcee gig- @kristacolvin
