Jayne's studio was so fun to work on. Who wouldn't love to be amongst beautiful fabrics, beads, trims and creative company!
Jayne is the creative handbag designer behind www.designsbyjayne.com . She is also a wonderful mother + wife. Her story brings tears to my eyes and I'm proud to be a part of her life. (Look for her story in a future post)
Jayne gave me a ring when she was ready to take her biz to the next level... take a look, I think she's got it going on! Take a look at the BEFORE + AFTER PHOTOS yourself...
My blog has recently been added to www.personalblogs.org, which is part of one of the largest networks of blog directories on the Web. Please visit my blog's personal page to vote for my blog and comment to other blog users.
Today for my lifestyle segment on Portland's morning show AM Northwest, I shared some of my favorite 'outside-of-the-box' organizing solutions. I love perusing the antique store for clever ways to make function... fabulous!
I'm also a big fan of using kitchen items in unique ways... take a peek! click here to view the segment
WOOOHOOOO, I've been chosen to be a Brand Ambassador for The View! Yes... THAT VIEW... the one w/Joy Behar + Whoopi. I've had my eye on one of those seats for as long as I can remember.
Simply put... for the next 4 weeks I'll be sharing info with you via my blog, but mostly twitter + my facebook fan page... so join me there chicas! I'll be getting the inside scoop from ABC, a chance to be on the show (scootch on over now girls...) and a cute lil' tote + coffee mug (they had me at coffee).
You can quickly + easily check out The View Ambassador list I have on my Twitter Profile Page... click here
Another method is www.search.twitter.com then enter #theviewmoms to see what we're saying about the show hot topics + guests. Some of the View Ambassadors are east coast, some west coast- so we'll be tweeting info at different times.
One lucky winner will be randomly selected to receive a trip to New York City to watch a taping of The View! The sweepstakes is open until February 28th. click here to enter... but I'm really hoping I win!
I want to give a big SHOUT OUT to Mom Central for providing this opportunity! If you've never been to their community nows the time to take a peek! www.MomCentral.com
“I am a participant in a Mom Central campaign for ABC Daytime and will receive a tote bag or other The View branded items to facilitate my review.”
Yes, it's only a couple weeks til Thanksgiving... and then WAM! Christmas is in full swing. Recently I was interviewed by Kimberly Fusaro for a Women's Day article- here's what I found online today! click here to read the article.
AND I Love it! My girl Aby Garvey + I are both in the article titled "Your Holiday Planning Checklist... Keep stress at bay with this six-week plan".
Truth be told I don't print out a list + follow it... I look at them, ponder them + then do my thing as it happens. But I'm thinking this list is a bit different as it's broken down into major categories which is how I think. Take a peek + be inspired!
I adore Jeanne Fitzmaurice owner of Designhergals.com and the women behind the Gal to Gal Foundation. Her sole soul mission is help grant wishes of women + their families with stage IV breast cancer... which many of you know is the stage you DON'T want to hear or EVER have.
Below is a video of Dorit Shapiro, the past foundation president. This video was only 4 days prior to her losing her battle with breast cancer. This year the goal is to raise $250k in her honor.
PLEASE join me... it's only $5 (or donate more if you wish) and 2 minutes of your time. My team name is: the [whole] shebang and I'd be so honored to have you join me.
PS. here's a link to the wishes you could help gant. GRANT WISHES
Remember back in late January... when I was up for BEST ORGANIZING BLOG *still happing dancin 'bout that* at the Organizing Awards?I was wearing cute shoes- I'm sure you remember that! Annnnnywho, the NAPO Los Angeles chapter created this incredible video montage that I partially missed. Yes, I was in the bathroom... AND I missed the part where I was on the "big screen"- go figure- I'm going to blame it on the amount of extra time it took to get my spanx back on ;)
NAPO LA really knows how to throw a party and how to put together a fabulous video. Sit back + enjoy this one. And a lil' FYI- because I KNOW you and you'll want to know where I got the art holder- It's called a SCHOOLFOLIO and you can get 10% off your order if you choose my name on the sales affiliate menu.
More on the Organizing Awards click here and here More on the Schoolfolio click here to read my post and click here to visit their site + order. To view the full TV segment click here + scroll down to "Organize Your Children's Artwork".
1.dash + dumpIt just takes 2 minutes and feels so darn good to get the crap stuff out of the house! [recycling, newspaper, broken items]
2.put-aways These buggers really pile up and take away from your home's ambiance. Put away that project you've finished or abandoned. [general pick up + put away, projects, post holiday items, etc]
3.dash + donateSet it free sister... take 2 minutes to gather up your "perfectly good" yet you don't even use it items and place them in the car destined for the donation center. [extra kitchen items, linens, clothing]
Craigslist or e-bay [best for items you’d like to $ in return]
DoughNation Services [best for getting it done quickly + with Tax documentation]
Ramona Creel of Online Organizing + me Online Organizing racked up all 3 of their nominations: Best Organizing Website or Blog, Most Valuable Educational Resource, Best Organizing Product Retailer.
Ok... We've come a long way baby- but the trophy went to Online Organizing... and that's ok- we've got a good thing going on girlfriends and I appreciate you all supporting the journey- it was FABULOUS. I've got pics to prove it!
If you haven't a clue what I'm babbling on about... Organize in Style blog (that's where you are now) was a finalist for BEST Organizing website/Blog at the recent Organizing Awards held in Bel Air, California at the Luxe Hotel. I mixed and mingled with the organizing elite. And yes I had on my cute loaner shoes from my girl Diana.
The cute lil' shoes and I had to take a break from one another at the after party...
Here's some more of the action!
Yes this is me with Christopher Knight (you may recognize him as peter brady) AND no I didn't sing the Brady song about time for change... you've got to rearrange! But we did chat about Green Plug one of the sponsors and how my brother knows his buddy (small world stuff).
Recognize this guy... He's Hal Sparks of Queer as Folk, but I love him for Talk Soup- the show he hosted about all the reality show updates. Here's me telling him I should have had his job on Talk Soup or it may have been me telling him about the acceptance speech I didn't get a chance to give. Which by the way went something like "wow, thank you! My lil' blog is all about fabulous meets function. And well, I just can't wait to get my hands on Hal Sparks hair."
Hal Sparks + me
He seemed fine with all that... maybe he's a better "tolerator" than Peter Walsh was when I palled up to him last spring (click hereto view my attack of peter walsh). Hal let me know that he grows his hair out whenever he's 'not required' to have is short for a role... he went on the share that he's Native American and then, well, it made it all quite clear to me that he is indeed in touch with his function meets fabulous self ;) Hal was also an INCREDIBLE host- his jokes were FUNNY, not snort cocktail out your nose funny-whew- but he nailed it.
I'd be remiss not to add a few more pics and the Organizing Award List of finalists + recipients.
The Recipient is.... Awards Finalists, in alphabetical order- Recipients are in bold.
