Welcome to my new weekly feature... The Organizer's House, a sneak peek into the homes of professional organizers!
We hear it all the time... "You must be SO organized, I bet your home is perfect". So here it is... because the curious want to know and we want to show you we are indeed human... not the stepford wives you picture us to be! Indeed we have junk drawers... they are just a tad organized!
A Sneak Peek into the home of Professional Organizer Julie Bestry of Chattanooga, TN and owner of Best Results Organizing.
Julie and I along with Jeri and Deb Lee at the NAPO Conference 2011 Twitter Party. Julie was SO supportive this past year...
I'm sure you'll appreciate her wit + wisdom on her blog Paper Doll.
HER ORGANIZED SPACE: Kitchen Junk Drawer
HER ORGANIZING TIPS:
1. A junk drawer doesn't have to look junky. Use drawer dividers, shallow baskets from the dollar store, silverware or office supply trays or even food storage containers to help you divide and conquer.
2. Even though it's miscellaneous "stuff", separate items by function (entertainment, power generation, taking things apart or putting them together, etc.) so you can eliminate non-essential duplicates and store "like with like".
3. Your house may be two stories, but keep your junk drawer ranch-style. Don't layer items on top of one another, or you'll create a mess every time you need to find something on the bottom.
